Even though the project had been completed, my appetite for orbing remained ravenous. Thus, I soldiered on.
Planets were the next logical step after constellations, and I had already been considering doing pride orbs for a while, so matching the planets up with the flag colors was pretty easy. I beefed up the theme with heraldic tinctures, which happened to have colors that matched up with the ons I was already using. Earth became my "trash can" entry on the list, so I invented the "meregrot" ("pearl") tincture for it and assigned it the all-encompassing virtue "decus" ("pride").
Thanks to my experience with the last batch, I finished the interior decoration phase in no time - the fact that the ornaments I ordered were smaller than expected probably helped. The real fun part was the exterior decorations. I was burnt out on making skins and decided to put all my energy into incorporating a new technique: decoden.
Instead of silicone, I used a clear modelling paste and made makeshift piping bags out of plastic sandwich bags.
Finally, to complete the flag theme, I topped the orbs with "banners."
This is how I designed the characters.
